I recently heard
one of the best lines ever in a movie, Let me preface it by helping you
understand it was about a married couple originally from NYC living in Amsterdam.
She announced at their 9th anniversary party to everyone in a toast, 'it was their
last anniversary party'. She had discovered he was cheating on her with one of
her friends, and this mistress of the moment was just really one of many she
had known about before. Long story short... our heroine moved in with a friend,
and her husband quickly discovered he could not function without her and could love no
other and had really screwed up. At the end of the movie, she takes him back;
and now to the best line ever, she said, "I can't live without you, but I
cannot live without myself!" In essence, others should accept us for who
we are and not expect us to change to be something different; and we should
have enough integrity, respect and self-love to always be true to ourselves.
The key is to find the love of our life who will treat us as we do ourselves.
